TURKISH LANGUAGE FOR VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS AND FACULTIES

(TDİ 1001) COURSE CONTENT FALL SEMESTER

WEEK 1. Meeting. Petition Writing Rules. Introducing the Course and Course Resources, Stating the Purpose of the Course, Giving Term Topics.

WEEK 2. Definition of Language, Determining Features, Sub-Branches, Types, Birth of Languages. Language, Culture, Literature, Nation, Emotion and Thought Relations.

WEEK 3. Language Families in the World, Classification in Terms of Form and Source. The Place of Turkish Language in World Languages.

WEEK 4. Historical Periods of Turkish (Old Turkish, Middle Turkish, New Turkish Periods)

WEEK 5. Spreading Areas of Turkish Language Today. Alphabets in which the Turkish Language is Written. Göktürk, Uyghur-Arabic, Turkish Alphabet of Latin Origin; The Origin and Meaning of the Name Turkish, Atatürk's Understanding of Language, Turkish Language Research Society, Turkish Language Association and its Studies.

WEEK 6. Current state of Turkish and its areas of spread. Southwest (Oghuz), Southeastern (Uyghur), Northwest (Kipchak), Northeast Group Turks.

WEEK 7. Spelling Rules and Punctuation Marks.

WEEK 8. Linguistics and grammar, Phonology of Turkish: Vowels, Auxiliary Voices, Vowel-Consonant Harmonies, Sound Phenomena.

WEEK 9. Morphology: Roots and suffixes; Production Supplements, Shooting Supplements.

WEEK 10. Types of words; words in terms of structure, nouns and their types, adjectives and their types, adverbs and their types. Sample analyses. (Noun, Adjective)

WEEK 11. Adverb, Pronoun, Verb.

WEEK 12. Verbs. (Noun-Verb, Adjective-Verb (Participles), Adverb-Verb (Gerudals)

WEEK 13. Phrases (Noun Phrases, Adjective Phrases)

WEEK 14. Prepositions, Conjunctions, Exclamations.

WEEK 4. Expression Styles: Explanatory, Descriptive, Proof, Narrative, Argumentative, Humorous Expression.

WEEK 5. Areas of Use of Language: Functional Language, Aesthetic Language.

WEEK 6. Types of Written Expression Based on Functional Language: Petition, Report, Report, Resume.

WEEK 7. Letter, E-Mail (e-mail), Interview, Article.

WEEK 8. Written Expression Types Based on Aesthetic Language: Novel, Story, (Sample Text Review)

WEEK 9. Poetry, Theatre, Essay, (Sample Text Review)

WEEK 10. Essay, Conversation, Memoir, Diary, (Sample Text Analysis)

WEEK 11. Criticism, Anecdote, Travel Article, Biography, Autobiography, (Sample Text Review)

WEEK 12. Traditional Narrative Types: Fairy Tale, Epic, Legend, Folk Stories

WEEK 13. Oral Expression Types: Conference, Symposium (Information Festival), Open Session, Panel.

WEEK 14. Debate, Seminar, Forum, Briefing.
